Looking Behind the Curtain - The Fragrance Industry

The Fragrance Industry is worth over £50billion globally but how many of us actually know what goes on behind the scenes? The honest answer is not a lot of us, but here at The Fragrance Mirror, our goal is to educate you on what you're actually buying and how to get the most for your money. In this series of blogs we will tell you all about what makes a fragrance and how long it takes to get a fragrance from concept to bottle.

Who actually makes the fragrances?

The simple answer to this is a Fragrance House, many companies will tell you that they formulate or create the fragrances themselves and in some cases with the very biggest companies, this is true. At The Fragrance Mirror we work exclusively with a Fragrance House based in the UK to provide us with the best possible scents at the most affordable rates, meaning you get the value and performance you deserve.

What does a fragrance house do and who works there?

Fragrance houses are set up to create, manufacturer and replicate practically anything that smells - if you can smell it, they can make it - isn't that magical? There are loads of interesting roles within a fragrance house but the main one you've probably heard about is a Perfumer. Now, a lot of people call themselves a perfumer but these guys are the real deal, they've either trained in perfumery schools or through decades of on-the-job training
